Located on the southern shore of the Burrard Inlet overlooking the Coastal Mountain range in British Columbia, Hastings Racecourse boasts the most scenic racecourse setting in Canada. The racetrack, originally carved out of a forest in 1889, has played a vital role in the long history of the Thoroughbred horse industry in British Columbia.  In November, 2004, Hastings Entertainment Inc. (HEI) became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Great Canadian Gaming Corporation, a multi-jurisdictional gaming company with operations in British Columbia, Ontario, Nova Scotia, and the state of Washington.

Many of the top races and Canadian graded fixtures in Western Canada are held at Hastings Racecourse each year. The list is headed by the Grade III $150,000 British Columbia Derby held each September, the Grade III $100,000 Ballerina, the $100,000 Oaks, the Grade III $100,000 Premiers, the $100,000 Sadie Diamond Futurity, and the $100,000 Jack Diamond Futurity.

The annual British Columbia Cup Day, held on the first Monday in August, is a fan favorite, featuring seven stakes races worth more than $350,000.
Racing is conducted on weekends and holiday Mondays for the 2016 live season, with a post time of 1:50 p.m. Friday night racing commences in August at 7:00 p.m.

Hastings Racecourse is located just 25 minutes from the Vancouver International Airport and 10 minutes from downtown Vancouver.
