Located just 20 minutes from downtown Minneapolis, Canterbury Park has grown from a 1990’s horse racing and simulcasting facility to a 24-hour-a-day, year-round entertainment destination.

In June of 2012, Canterbury Park and the Shakopee Mdewakanton Sioux Community entered into a cooperative purse enhancement and marketing agreement that will inject $75 million into the horsemen’s purse fund over a 10-year span. This year’s 69-day meet begins May 20 and runs through September 17.
Featured race days include the fifth annual $200,000 Mystic Lake Derby on August 28 and the 23nd running of the Minnesota Festival of Champions on August 21.

A full menu of simulcast racing is offered daily in the Canterbury Race Book.

Opened in 2000, Canterbury Card Casino is home to the largest poker room in the upper Midwest. The poker room deals Texas Hold’em, Seven Card Stud, and Omaha. Table game offerings include blackjack, Pai Gow poker, and other games. The card casino is open year-round, 24 hours a day.

Canterbury also hosts several special events throughout the year, including the Midwest’s largest craft show in April and November, motorsports events, trade shows and concerts.

As a member of the Minnesota Keystone Program, Canterbury Park contributes five per cent of its pre-tax profits to the community each year. Canterbury Park Holding Corporation (CPHC) is a publicly-traded company on the NASDAQ.
